Aloha Island
It has always been one of my dreams to travel to Hawaii, but alas it has never happened as flights out to that side of the world are very expensive and paying for my entire family to go is something that I will likely never be able to accomplish. Aloha Island by Bally Technologies is attempting to convey this type of great place in the world. Do the graphics and features make this game a worthwhile substitute for a Hawaiian trip?

Graphics and Animations
Graphically speaking, Aloha Island is a nice looking game that combines certain aspects of the Hawaiian culture with standard pokie elements. Reel symbols are well drawn, with the game presenting crisp HD graphics that really play well on my computer screen. Everything from clams to parrots, to vibrant tropical fish are present on the reels in Aloha Island, and I love the way that they look.

Animations are a bit of a letdown though, with the game really not doing anything to let you feel that it is alive with tropical excitement. I really wish that the reels showcased more movement, as it would have added to the experience for me. To make matters worse, Aloha Island is a bit choppy when playing, as I saw my connection pick up and drop several times, often leaving me with hanging reels that did not result in any play whatsoever.
Gameplay
Unfortunately, Aloha Island does not a great job of making things much fun in its gameplay, relying on a Free Spins feature and a reel that is Wild on every spin to make up its gameplay. The game has 50 paylines, many of which do hit but produce little in terms of wins themselves.
I began playing Aloha Island with a $50 bankroll, but eventually saw that dwindle to nothing as the game bled me dry. I scored many small wins with this pokie, but nothing substantial came until Free Spins were awarded, which happened very infrequently. I generally like to give games about 15 to 20 minutes to test them, but in this case I was completely busted out within nine minutes.
