Chinese culture is rich in history and has become extremely popular throughout the world thanks to the fact that the icons associated with this culture are so incredible to look at. China River by Bally is a game that attempts to capitalize on this by creating a serene and complex game. This is achieved by lotus flowers, a bird, Chinese symbols, and more. Is the game any good? Read on to find out.
Bally's China River pokie is a good looking game that combines the wonderful Chinese outdoors with an Imperial look that is sharp and pleasing to the eyes. I am a big fan of the background of this game, and am convinced the bird on top of the reels looks great. Reel symbols themselves are sharp as well, with the game including jade frogs, gold cauldrons, and Chinese symbols are absolutely fantastic.
I am not a fan of the poker card symbols though, as the game is too reliant on them and I feel that Bally could have done a lot more in terms of creating a custom experience.
Animations are decent as well with the game has a smooth effect to it, with blinking occurring on the basic symbols and brief animations accompanying the more complex symbols when a win is struck.
In terms of gameplay China River has 30 paylines, Free Spins, Random Wilds, and Stacked Wilds. I find this to be the perfect balance with the theme, and the serene feel never gets too hectic due to the game’s features.
I began playing China River with a $50 balance that eventually swooned down to less than $15 before seeing the balance swell up to $91 at the end of my test session. During this period I ended up hitting Free Spins occasionally while also scoring many Stacked Wilds, which actually contributed more to my ending balance than the Free Spins.
In the end, I like China River by Bally. I think that the theme is great and that the features give the game a perfect balance that matches the theme. If you are into all things Chinese I recommend that you give China River a spin. It is a game that you will likely enjoy.
Overall: B+
