Elements Pokie Machine

Set in the far reaches of outer space, where strange aliens, asteroids and blobs of light float around, the Elements video pokie from Net Ent is a unique looking game. It comes complete with some unique bonus features as well, with 4 different free spins games, each related to an element of air, water, fire or earth, while any winning lines disappear from the reels to hopefully create an extra winline from the same spin.

The landscape surrounding the elements emphasises the theme and each corner of the background image has mountains, fiery volcanos or peaceful lakes in it, while the symbols are all supposed to represent the elements as well, although they do so in some very innovative ways, with each of the higher value ones bobbing around a bit between spins. It’s all quite futuristic and anyone who likes Star Trek will see a similarity between this pokie and Spocks’ planet of Vulcan.

This pokie can be found at many Net Ent online casinos, although it isn’t mobile-optimised, so players will need to be at a PC to get the full effect. There’s 5 reels, with symbols over 3 rows and running from the left side, we have 20 paylines, with winning combinations formed by matching symbols across a line on adjacent reels starting from reel 1. The minimum stake per spin is 0.20, which may put some potential players off, so free Elements video pokies can be found if they want to test the game out first. The high limit bet is 100.00 per spin.

Playing Elements

There are 4 basic symbols, but each comes in 2 versions, with simple water and air elements creating the smallest wins of 3, 20 or 50x the line bet when landing on 3, 4 or 5 reels across a payline. Earth and Fire pay out a little more and then more elaborate, animated versions that are part alien/part element fill the upper end of the pay table.

In this half, water pays 10, 50 or 300x the line bet, and at the top of the scale, fire is valued at 25, 150 or 1500x. A suitably weird-looking metal cube is a wild symbol which shows a different side depending on which reel it lands on, although it doesn’t appear on reel 1, so can’t make up a line on its own. This symbol will however, act as all others if it’s then possible to complete a combination, while also having the ability to stretch wins across extra reels on the right side.

Whenever a winline is created, any symbols within it will vanish in a little explosion and leave empty spaces for those above to drop down into, while new symbols will fall from above, which can create further winning lines in what Net Ent call Avalanches. These become even more important when several Avalanches happen consecutively as we shall see.

Bonus Features

Alongside the Spin button, players will see a metal-effect bar with 4 sections on it that represent the elements, and each time an Avalanche occurs, a section will be lit up. If 4 in row are achieved, the whole bar is lit and players are awarded different free spins bonus games depending on which element was highlighted on an Energy Meter on the fourth Avalanche. Some great animated sequences will play out before the 10 spins begin and the following extra features are in effect during the actual bonus games.

If the Fire Storm games begin, fire wilds can land on the middle 3 reels and will expand sideways to help create extra winning lines. The Air Storm games sees 2 air wilds that move randomly around to adjacent positions with each spin, while the Earth Storm sees wilds stay in position until they have become part of a winline or 3 Avalanches occur. The Water Storm wilds expand across whole reels, making it easier to complete combinations, and while free spins cannot be retriggered, each different round has the potential to pay some decent coins.

The Verdict

This is a great-looking game, with abstract images and fantastic animations. The free fall system that drops symbols into position, and Avalanches that can complete several wins in a single wager, are used across a number of games in the Net Ent range, but the difference here is the way that bonus rounds are triggered once 4 in a row have occurred.

The way that the Energy Meter works can take a bit of getting used to, but whichever bonus round is triggered, the overall returns are similar so it doesn’t really matter that much and players should be sure of a few reliable wins before the 10 spins have finished.
